Spec Ops 11 Guide - Part 3 (Includes Parts 1 & 2)

Optimum Paths

Mission 1 Optimal Paths:

  • All threats except 1 Low, 3-Bird: 80 U-ISOs.
    • Best possible route for points. Use this on your subsequent runs if you need to get more stars or are farming that nifty sword.

Mission 2 Optimal Paths:

  • 2 Med, 1 Mini-boss, 1 High, 1 Low, 2-Bird: 80 U-ISOs
  • EPIC BOSS - all battles, all deploys: At least 140 U-ISO. Still calculating on this one.
    • You'll need Scarlet Witch, Iron Fist, and Fantomex.

Mission 3 Optimal Paths:

  • Not there yet. More to follow later.

Daily Tasks

Day 1: Tasks 1-6

I was able to complete these in one sweep of the Mission. Even though you don't need to do the deploys (there's no epic boss in mission 1), I did them anyway so I could jack my score up in that run. I finished with two stars and change, setting me up to quickly complete later tasks.

1. Hydrones - Defeat 5 Hydra Soldiers

Pretty straightforward. You have to do this one in the SpecOps mission. I hit the Medium threat and then dropped one of my heroes into a 2-battle deploy so I'd be able to finish #2 as soon as I knocked off the Easy threat and one more. A word to the wise: leave at least one Medium threat sit there as you're fighting through it. You'll thank yourself when you get to task 4.

2. Cunning Ploy - Complete a Deploy

This one can technically be done outside of SpecOps, but this early in the game I'm not hurting for ISO, so why not, eh? Three battles into the mission and I had this one done.

By this point The Hood will pop up as a mini-boss. Leave him be for now. You'll need to fight him solo later. Just keep plugging away at the other missions until Mordo shows his ugly mug.

3. Astral Rejection - Defeat Baron Mordo

Let him ramble on about resurrecting Blackheart, and then take him down to Chinatown. This shouldn't be that hard with the proper team.

4. Black and Blue - Defeat 3 Bruiser Demons

This is why we left The Hood and one Medium threat alone. The Medium threats carry two Bruiser demons, and The Hood has a couple along with him. Take out the Medium threat, then go knock off The Hood and his buddies, and put this one to rest.

5. Take Him to Task - Defeat Taskmaster

One of my favorite villains in the Marvel Universe! I really hope they decided to make him a multi-class lockbox hero later down the line. He should be fairly easy to beat solo, despite his huge repertoire of moves. That caps off the battles for the day, and if you ran the deploys in the mission then you've probably two-starred it by now.

6. Seals In Freshness - Research the Soul Jar in the Lab

Oh joy... Playdom saw fit to give us another Grief sword quest to go along with this research. Ugh. Put this one in the cooker and go take a nap or fight some PvP for the next 8 hours.

Day 2: Tasks 7-11

We're going to be running these tasks in Mission 2. Hopefully you already 2-starred Mission 1, which will automagically take care of task 9 once we get to it. We'll be running this one through to the Epic boss. You'll need Scarlet Witch, Iron Fist, and Fantomex to get that ball rolling.

7. Black Arts - Complete a Battle with Blackheart

Once you complete the research from Day 1, Blackheart should become available to battle, for task 7. Trip off his spawn counter and smack him around to get your mojo running on your lockbox count.

8. Half Time - Defeat 2 Members of the Wrecking Crew

You can't do this one outside of SpecOps. Which sucks. Someone over at PD must have a serious wood for these guys, but I'm sick of seeing these jokes in the game. Heck, I'd rather be fighting the Sinister Six at this point. Fight until you get the first miniboss battle, and then take out Thunderball and Bulldozer. Done and done.

9. Mission Accomplished - Get 2 Stars of Mastery in Mission 1

You should have already had this one done from yesterday, so we get to skip right by it. Gotta love a freebie!

10. We Are Venom - Defeat Venom

Ahh, the drooling monster finally makes an appearance. I bet the fanboys who want him as a lockbox release are having to change their pants right about now. He has some interesting abilities as well as the "if you kill him, he'll come back with 1% health" crap that we've seen before. Meaning after the first kill-shot, you'll probably have to have someone else finish him off.

11. Stick A Fork In It - Upgrade the Trident to the Infernal Trident in the Lab

Just like it says. Put the Trident in the cooker, and stick a fork in it. 24 hours of R&R - or PvP, if you're playing that.

If you have extra U-ISO, now would also be a good time to go re-run Mission 1 so you can work on completing the first optional lockbox task and increase your star count. The first Lockbox quest is going to take 10 Scrapper demons, which means you're going to either be making two runs at M1 to finish it, or you'll have to wait until M3. Given that you're going to need to 4-star M1 for the final Lockbox task, you may as well run some of them in M1.

Days 3-5: Tasks 12-16

We'll be doing this one in Mission 2, since it's the only place Satana appears in short order. Since we're here, we'd just as well do an Epic run while we're at it! Send off your flight deck missions before you get started and you'll be in good position when #14 rolls around.

12. Daughter of the Devil - Use Satana's Fires of Hell 3 Times

This one is a little frustrating because her L2 has a cooldown on it. Take out the first Medium threat in the area and then dive in to the miniboss fight. You're going to be milking the Refresh button or burning items during this one to get her three shots in before the end of the battle, but it'll be worth it. Once this one is done, start laying down the Deploys (if you haven't already).

13. Helping Hands - Complete 5 Deploys

You can totally knock this one out inside the Op, but if you don't want to burn the ISO you can do it outside.. Make like Nike and Just Do It (in the op). It's worth it for the Epic run.

14. Jet Set - Complete 5 Flight Deck Missions

You already had these run, right? Pick 'em up and move on to the Arena.

15. Versus - Fight 5 PVP Battles

ARE YOU NOT ENTERTAINED?!?!? Hopefully you made it to this one before 6 PM PDT on July 15, otherwise you'll probably be stuck waiting for PD to un-FUBAR the PvP situation and get Practice back up and running. Seeing as how it pretty much always ends up AFU and nonfunctional for anywhere from several hours to several days after the end of a tournament, you may have to be patient. Go fight five, and win or lose you'll have this one done.

16. Third Time's A Charm - Upgrade the Infernal Trident to the Netheranium Trident in the Lab

120 UISO, 300 Silver, and two days' worth of time. In my case, it's going to be three days as I'm a bit short on UISO and I don't want to pay for more at this time. No big whoop, I'll pick up my 50 from my peeps in the morning and put it in the cooker. PvP is about to be over and it's not like I was going to be able to get Hellstrom recruited before then anyway. I'm still scratching my head over what PD's intent was with these three weapons. Obviously they're meant to play off of each other, but unless you want to find other means of applying the preceding debuff, you'll have to pack in all three to make them worthwhile. Oh well, they'll be trophies in my footlocker, I guess.
