"Cut off from Asgard, we must stop the invading Dark Elves before London is overrun. All efforts should be focused on sealing their attack portals."
— Mission Preview
|Nick Fury:||There's trouble in Asgard. The Bifrost has been broken and without that bridge, Asgard can't keep control over what's happening in the rest of the Nine Realms.|
|Agent Coulson:||The Dark Elves are taking advantage of this. They've found a way to create portals out of Svartalfheim, their home realm.|
|Maria Hill:||Some of the portals are in London.|
|Agent Coulson:||Sif, Valkyrie, and Thor were here when the Bifrost was destroyed. They're taking the lead fighting against the Dark Elves, but we need to get those portals closed.|
|Nick Fury:||If we can trap the Dark Elves back in Svartalfheim, maybe we can figure out a way to take the fight to them... and whoever is leading them.|
When S.H.I.E.L.D. operates in another country, we like to drop in and say hello to the local authorities. In this case, Psylocke is the perfect intermediary to talk to MI-13.
|Psylocke:||Fury, MI-13's asking for a briefing. I'll handle it unless you've an objection.|
|Nick Fury:||Job suits you. By all means proceed.|
|Psylocke:||They're not pleased this is happening in London. They've been hoping to be spared the, ah... extent of the problems you've see in New York.|
|Nick Fury:||Things are tough all over. No reason to think they'd be spared.|
MI-13 is sending dossiers on suspected Incursions in this area. We need a hero to guard them in transit.
The Dark Elves aren't going along with our mission plan. While we get the portals closed, we need some local help hunting down bands of strays. Captain Britain would be perfect.
|Tony Stark:||While we figure out how to pinch off these portals, maybe you could... what's the phrase?
Hunt down this band of Dark Elves and give them a good kicking. Did I get that right?
|Captain Britain:||Sounds funny coming from you. But yeah, more or less.|
|Tony Stark:||Ahoy, Captain Britain. We could use a little bit of the Otherworld on our side.|
|Captain Britain:||Say the word. What do you need?|
|Captain Britain:||Done and done. But along the way I ran into one of the Dark Elves who was quite a bit... let's say he's quite a challenge.
Know anything about that, Stark?
|Tony Stark:||Only what you just said. But now we're going to look into it.|
We've just had a report of a theft of Nordic relics from a museum here. Could be coincidence, but send a hero to check it out.
Another artifact theft. This is looking like a trend. If the Dark Elves are going after magical relics, we need to know about it. Send a hero to see what's going on.
MiniBoss - Piledriver/Thunderball
|Agent Coulson:||Where there's Asgardian mischief on Midgard, you'll find the Wrecking Crew.
Or at least two of them.
|Sif:||I will make them regret their presence here, if only for as long as it takes their life's blood to leak out.|
|Sif:||Thieves and criminals. Apt companions for the villainous Dark Elves of Niflheim.|
|Shut it, sister. You got your Asgard schtick, we do what we do. You wanna call us names, maybe we ought to relax our rule about punching women.||Piledriver:|
|I feel kind of bad about that.||Piledriver:|
|Hard to feel bad when you're asking for it.||Piledriver:|
|Sif:||These are Piledriver and Thunderball?|
|Agent Coulson:||That's them.|
|Sif:||One can only imagine what reason Amora has for keeping them around.|
MiniBoss - Wrecker/Bulldozer
|Agent Coulson:||Valkyrie, Sif claimed the other half of the Wrecking Crew, but you can probably have these two.|
|Valkyrie:||It is not often I benefit from the sharing instinct of the sword-maiden.|
|Tony Stark:||Better take advantage while you can.|
|Valkyrie:||This is a test, Wrecker. Has your crowbar grown stronger against Geirr and the might of Asgard?|
|I never know what the hell she's talkin' about.||Wrecker:|
|Don't matter. Let's get rid of her so--||Bulldozer:|
|Shut up. Don't you know better than to talk plans in the middle of a fight?||Wrecker:|
|Test was a little harder than you thought it would be, huh? Better study up!||Wrecker:|
|Valkyrie:||Dare you test me again?|
|Valkyrie:||Wrecker has failed the test.|
|Maria Hill:||As we knew he would.|
|Agent Coulson:||What were they doing here, anyway?|
|Valkyrie:||Clearing a path.|
|Maria Hill:||For who? Or what?|
|Agent Coulson:||I guess we'll find out.|
MiniBoss - Kurse
|Maria Hill:||Malekith is leading the Dark Elves. That's what we suspected, and now we know.|
|Tony Stark:||He's transformed one of his lieutenants, Algrim the Strong, into a killing machine he calls Kurse.|
|Nick Fury:||I've got a bad feeling about this. Prioritize this target, Agent.|
|Thor:||Malekith has beguiled Algrim into believing I am responsible for his death and monstrous rebirth. He will stop at nothing to kill me.|
|Tony Stark:||We've got your back, big guy.|
|WHERE IS THOR?! No force in the Nine Realms shall keep Kurse from him!||Kurse:|
|HAHAHA!!! All shall kneel before Malekith!||Kurse:|
|Thor:||Algrim! If you can hear me, know that your suffering is nearly at an end!|
|Tony Stark:||Well, hey, that wasn't so bad, right guys? If that's the best Malekith's got...|
|Thor:||No. This is merely the beginning. Kurse retreats only so that he may grow into the fullness of his power.|
|Agent Coulson:||Um... how full is that fullness, exactly?|
|Thor:||I doubt not that we shall soon know.|
Boss - Destroyer
|Maria Hill:||The Destroyer has been sighted! The Dark Elves must have found some way to bring it back to life.|
|Sif:||The Dark Elves have not the knowledge. Surely the Enchantress is involved.|
|Maria Hill:||I'm not sure we can jump to that conclusion.|
|Sif:||The Wrecker and his Crew have been her minions in the past. I see no reason to believe that has changed.|
|Thor:||Regardless of whence it came, we must halt its advance with all speed.|
|Thor:||Agent. Together we will face the Destroyer yet once more. I have come to think of you as my talisman against it. To battle!|
|Thor:||Agent! Back into battle! Now is the time!|
|Thor:||Have we not seen the last of you? Perhaps this time!|
|Thor:||Once again the Destroyer is defeated.|
|Tony Stark:||If word gets out, its reputation as unstoppable is going to take a hit. Maybe it's a good thing the Nine Realms are all cut off from each other, or Asgard loses its scary guardian.|
|Thor:||The glib man always lacks character, Stark. You may not know that, but everyone who listens to you does.|
|Tony Stark:||We're making progress, but we still--Heimdall!|
|Heimdall:||Yes. Greetings. These are dire times.|
|Tony Stark:||How did you get here?|
|Heimdall:||I have discovered a way to travel among the Realms. We will need it... very soon.|
|Tony Stark:||Soon like right now?|
|Heimdall:||I will consult with the Odinson. Where is he?|
|Tony Stark:||Agent, you'll excuse us. Private Asgardian consultation happening.|
Group Boss - Kurse
|Agent Coulson:||We have visual confirmation! Kurse is back!|
|THOR!!! Test your strength against mine again and fall!||Kurse:|
|Tony Stark:||You weren't kidding about the 'fullness of power' thing. I didn't think it was possible, but he looks a hundred times worse than before.|
|Thor:||I fear him no more than any other elf. My concern is only of the murderous path he shall carve whilst enroute to our confrontation.|
|Maria Hill:||We've got to keep coming at him, to keep him off balance while we find out how we can strike at Malekith directly.|
|Maria Hill:||Stay after Kurse, Agent. Call in whatever help you need to keep him on the run, and be ready to answer the call from fellow agents.
We need Thor to find Malekith and, with any luck, discover a way to reconnect Asgard with Earth.
"Heimdall has found a way to get us off of Midgard, and not a moment too soon--the Dark Elves have invaded Asgard!"
— Mission Preview
|Maria Hill:||I was skeptical, but it turns out the Enchantress was the one who brought the Destroyer back to life.|
|Tony Stark:||Now she's bringing Jotun into London, and she's got her pet barbarian killer, the Executioner, keeping her company.|
|Heimdall:||The Dark Elves have attacked Asgard itself. I did not see them. This is troubling.|
|Tony Stark:||They're using some kind of cloaking magic or something that can even hide them from Mr. All-Seeing here. Bad news. Asgard's in trouble.|
|Heimdall:||Yet there is a way to fight back. We must go to Asgard.|
|Nick Fury:||This is one of those times when Asgard's business is definitely our business too, Agent.|
A breakaway Jotun group has stolen a boat and is crossing the North Sea. Send Valkyrie after them to make sure they don't get to Scandinavia.
|Tony Stark:||Valkyrie, how does that winged horse of yours handle the cold? Do its wings ice up or anything?|
|Valkyrie:||Aragorn may brave any climate. Where stems your inquiry?|
|Tony Stark:||There's Jotun crossing the North Sea toward Scandinavia in a boat they stole. Mind making sure they don't get there?|
|Valkyrie:||Mind? Nay, it shall be my pleasure.|
|Valkyrie:||Jotun, it seems, are not so good at swimming.|
|Tony Stark:||Adding that to the dossier.|
We need a hero to ride along while we get some of these recovered Nordic artifacts back to New York. There's more going on here than just a bunch of frost giants blowing off steam.
Our very own Bobbi Morse would be perfect for this top-secret intel-gathering solo mission we have in mind. No details available.
|Agent Coulson:||Agent 19... you don't mind if I call you that, do you?|
|Mockingbird:||Not at all. Brings back some fine memories.|
|Agent Coulson:||We've got a little intel-gathering for you to do. Instructions are in this envelope.|
|Mockingbird:||Off I go.|
|Mockingbird:||You didn't tell me I'd have to fight draugr to get this stuff.|
|Agent Coulson:||I figured you could handle it. You never disappoint.|
While we're in London, we need to keep an eye on Incursions elsewhere. Send a hero to accompany an Incursion mapping team focused on the Southern Hemisphere.
There's a band of Jotun diehards here. She-Hulk might be just what we need to either reason with them or pound them into blue-skinned bags of hurt.
|Maria Hill:||She-Hulk, we haven't quite convinced all of the Jotun in this area to go back to Jotunheim.|
|She-Hulk:||Do they need the persuasive skills I learned in law school?|
|Maria Hill:||Sure. Or you could just pound the daylights out of them. That would be persuasive.|
|She-Hulk:||You were right. Punching them worked better than arguing.|
|Maria Hill:||Thought so.|
|She-Hulk:||It was also more fun. Arguing is my job, you know? Much more fun to pound on bad guys.|
MiniBoss - Executioner
|Heimdall:||I see the Odinson speaking with his brother... they are striking a bargain.|
|Heimdall:||Thor was right about you.|
|Heimdall. Who watches over the Bifrost? Have you deserted your post, watchman?||Executioner:|
|Heimdall:||The Bifrost is broken, as you well know. Now you take to the battlefield following the lead of Svartalfheim. What has she promised you?|
|I need no promise other than an ample supply of Asgardian throats to cut.||Executioner:|
|Heimdall:||Cut this one if you may.|
|And now the guardian of the Bifrost is broken too! Haha!||Executioner:|
|Back to your post, sentry. Watch the towers of Asgard fall. Nothing you do can stop that.||Executioner:|
|Heimdall:||Executioner was spirited away by Amora. She protects him when it suits her whim.|
|Tony Stark:||I want to circle back to this Loki thing. What kind of arrangement were he and Thor coming to?|
|Heimdall:||Perhaps you can ask him soon.|
|Tony Stark:||What the hell is that supposed to mean? Is he...?
Oh, man. I was so glad to be rid of him
MiniBoss - Jotuns
|Maria Hill:||These are no ordinary Jotun.|
|Valkyrie:||No. Jotunheim's most brutal warriors are here at the behest of the Enchantress.|
|Nick Fury:||Then our most badass warriors better get out there and show them what happens when they declare war on Midgard.|
|Tony Stark:||I like how you used Midgard there, Nick. Very authentic.|
|Heimdall:||Jotun! No action of yours escapes my notice. And none of you will escape the sweep of my sword.|
|Valkyrie:||Heimdall is wounded! We are coming to his aid. Prepare to take the battle to the Jotun again!|
|Heimdall:||When the Bifrost is made whole, the hosts of Asgard will march on Jotunheim.|
|Heimdall:||The Jotun are vanquished.|
|Maria Hill:||Back to Dark Elves, then. And Malekith, if we can ever find him.|
|Thor:||He is a sly one. He will bide his time. After waiting thousands of years, he shall savor his murderous rampage.|
|Heimdall:||I must return to Asgard's defense. When the passage is open, I shall return to Midgard.|
Boss - Enchantress
|Tony Stark:||Well, who'da thunk it? The Enchantress. But no sign of the Wrecking Crew.|
|Nick Fury:||I don't miss 'em. Especially when we've got this show to look forward to. That's Loki, isn't it? Don't recognize him without his helmet.|
|Thor:||We reached a deal. I freed him. In return, he will fight Amora for us.|
|Tony Stark:||Sounds like a good deal... for him. Remind me never to hire you as an agent.|
|Thor:||He has also pledged to guide us by occult means to Svartalfheim.|
|Tony Stark:||Oh. Well. Okay, then. Solid quid pro quo. I like it.|
|You have slipped your bonds in the dungeons of Asgard.||Enchantress:|
|Loki:||Perhaps I had some assistance. This engagement, I felt, was most pressing.|
|It seems your brother agreed.||Enchantress:|
|Loki:||He's a bit thick sometimes, but I don't believe anyone has ever questioned his commitment to family.|
|Except your father.||Enchantress:|
|Loki:||Well, even Father makes mistakes. For instance, he should have blasted you to dust ages ago. Now that task falls to me.|
|You have made a poor choice of allies, trickster. The towers of Asgard will fall, and you with them.||Enchantress:|
|Loki:||Amora. Beautiful and yet somehow repulsive, all at once. How do you maintain such a state?|
|Loki:||Let it never be said that Loki acted only on his own behalf.|
|Tony Stark:||Right. Your goodness of heart got you here. Had nothing to do with the fact that if Malekith destroys Asgard, there won't be a throne for you to usurp.|
|Loki:||You wound me, Stark. But it is my destiny to be misunderstood, I fear... no matter. You shall see whose hearts are stoutest in the days to come.|
|Tony Stark:||Whatever. As long as you get us to Svartalfheim, the rest of it will take care of itself. That was the deal you made with Thor, right?|
|Loki:||That I can do, as promised. Yet I promise nothing about who and how many shall return...|
|Tony Stark:||Good. The more you promise, the less I believe.|
Epic Boss - Malekith
|Tony Stark:||Well, if we were waiting for Malekith to show himself, the suspense is over.
Here he is in London. We didn't even have to figure out a way to get to Asgard.
|Agent Coulson:||Thoughtful of him.|
|Tony Stark:||By all accounts, he's a thoughtful guy.|
|Maria Hill:||Are you serious?|
|Tony Stark:||No, of course not. I don't know anything about him except what Thor told me.|
|Maria Hill:||Which was what?|
|Thor:||That the Nine Realms will not be safe as long as he draws breath.|
|Heimdall:||Elf King, you have taken a step too far.|
|Hear, guardian of the broken bridge. This is your future.
When Kurse has hunted down the Odinson, and my armies crush the defenses of Asgard...
The Nine Realms will collapse into the primordial darkness, and only I will rule.
|Heimdall:||That is not what I see.|
|You did not see our attack on Asgard, O Watcher. What else are you not seeing now?||Malekith:|
|Darkness. Darkness fit for the rule of Malekith...||Malekith:|
|Asgard crumbles. All that is bright must one day fall into shadow.||Malekith:|
|Sif:||And now we will take the fight to Malekith. Rally, warriors of Asgard! Rally, heroes of Midgard! The tide of battle turns!|
|Thor:||You fought bravely, Heimdall.|
|Loki:||I see you all are as fond of bravado as ever. Are we ready to see Svartalfheim?|
|Sif:||You intend to keep your promise?|
|Loki:||Don't act so surprised. I can't always trick everyone. Then they come to expect it.|
|Thor:||O All-Seeing, what guidance would you give?|
|Heimdall:||It is not for me to tell what should be done. I witness. I observe.|
|Tony Stark:||Okay, then. What are you witnessing and observing?|
|Heimdall:||A great work is being done in Svartalfheim. Malekith's armies soon will march. Kurse will lead by striking where he wills.|
|Agent Coulson:||In other words, we're not done yet.|
|Heimdall:||No. Far from done.|
|Thor:||Loki's knowledge of secret ways may prove our only advantage... though it galls me to say it.|
|Tony Stark:||Let's get back to it, then. If Thor's right, and Loki knows the way from here to Svartalfheim, we better get him to show us.|
"With our backs against the wall, a dangerous alliance is made. This could be the edge we need to emerge victorious... or it could simply hasten our demise."
— Mission Preview
|Tony Stark:||Loki says he knows a secret path from Asgard to Svartalfheim. Problem is, if he keeps it open for too long the Dark Elves will turn it into a two-way street.|
|Maria Hill:||Asgard might not survive another attack like the last one.|
|Nick Fury:||So we're going to do it the hard way. There are still Dark Elves in London. We take them out.|
|Maria Hill:||While we're doing that, we open passages from here to Svartalfheim via Asgard. Then we close them as we go.|
|Nick Fury:||That way we keep the Dark Elves in Svartalfheim while we send strike teams after Malekith.
|Thor:||Striking Malekith sounds very good, Fury. Let us speak no longer. It is time for action.
Loki! Show the portal, brother.
Someone with experience fighting Dark Elves needs to keep an eye on the portals we've already closed while we try to find a way to Svartalfheim. She won't like it, but it's a job for Valkyrie.
|Maria Hill:||We need a rear guard to make sure the Svartalfheim portals stay closed. Valkyrie, can you keep an eye on them?|
|Valkyrie:||I should be in the vanguard, not the rear guard.|
|Maria Hill:||You'll get your chance again.|
|Valkyrie:||All have been sealed thus far. Perhaps someone else will succeed me in this duty so that I may take my rightful place...|
|Agent Coulson:||...In battle. Of course. You're on the next bus to Svartalfheim. So to speak.|
Circle of 8 cultists have been flocking to some of the portal locations. What do they know about Asgardian magic? Someone needs to fly these prisoners back to New York for a leisurely interrogation.
Loki's back doors to other realms might come in handy, and not just for Svartalfheim. Send a hero to confirm locations of other portals to other realms.
We're fighting in Svartalfheim and London. Our assets are stretched thin, and there are still Dark Elves getting through our security perimeters. We've got nobody left to send after them... except the Punisher.
|Tony Stark:||Frank, we need you to shoot some Dark Elves.|
|Tony Stark:||Sending you the location now.|
|Punisher:||Done. Send a cleanup crew.|
Intel and research are parallel to combat efforts in Svartalfheim. While we're here, we want to know how Dark Elf sorcery works. Union Jack can bring a collection of artifacts through any Dark Elf guards and get them to the team.
|Tony Stark:||Anyone want a short vacation in Svartalfheim? Endless darkness, misery, mortal threats at every turn?|
|Union Jack:||I'm in. Sounds like Manchester.|
|Tony Stark:||I knew we could count on you, Jack. Bring out a collection of artifacts the team's put together and get it here, if you would.|
|Union Jack:||I was wrong. It's nothing like Manchester. No football nutters in Svartalfheim.|
MiniBoss - Executioner
|Agent Coulson:||Ready for your first trip to Svartalfheim, Agent? The portal awaits.|
|Tony Stark:||On the other side, you'll find the Executioner with a posse of Dark Elves. They're about to come after Asgard, but we're going to abort that mission for them.|
|Agent Coulson:||Heimdall, lead the way.|
|Heimdall:||Skurge, has your Enchantress left you to do her fighting again? Perhaps even now she dallies with Malekith...|
|Die, Asgardian scum!||Executioner:|
|The way is clear. To Asgard!||Executioner:|
|Heimdall:||The next time you set foot in Asgard, Skurge, you will be in chains.|
|Tony Stark:||Ahh, back in London. From Svartalfheim to the Smoke. How was it?|
|Heimdall:||Dark. Malekith wishes to return us all to that darkness.|
|Valkyrie:||You will pardon Heimdall's grimness, Stark. The breaking of the Bifrost is difficult for him.|
|Tony Stark:||Sure. I understand. I feel the same way about my cars.|
MiniBoss - Wrecker
|Agent Coulson:||To Svartalfheim one more time. Objective this time is the Wrecker, who's about to lead Dark Elves into Asgard.|
|Tony Stark:||Looks like he left the rest of his boys at home. Maybe they're still too banged up from running into Sif and Valkyrie.|
|Nick Fury:||He'll still be plenty to handle with Dark Elves on his side. Let's move. If we get a fix on Malekith's location, we can go after him, too.|
|Heimdall:||Loki, lead the way.|
|Loki:||With pleasure... and perhaps I will lead not just the way but the battle itself! The Wrecker and I must renew our acquaintance.|
|Loki:||Wrecker! It has been too long. Still reaping the benefits of what should have been mine, I see.|
|Beat it, ya clown. Me and these elf boys got conquerin' to do.||Wrecker:|
|Loki:||"Beat it, ya clown"? Is that any way to talk to the being responsible for your powers? Even if inadvertently?
I cannot, perhaps, reclaim what should have been mine... but on the other hand, perhaps I can. Let us see!
|Yer gonna get this crowbar, all right. Right where the sun don't shine.||Wrecker:|
|All right, boys. Let's get wreckin' in Asgard!||Wrecker:|
|Loki:||Wrecker! How are you enjoying Svartalfheim? Lovely, all the gloom and darkness.|
|Loki:||And here we are back in Midgard! How the time does fly when one is baiting the Wrecker in a land of eternal darkness.|
|Tony Stark:||You weren't gone that long.|
|Loki:||Oh, the notoriously witty Stark resents the presence of rhetorical competition, does he? Poor thing.|
|Tony Stark:||And now you're trying to bait me instead of the Wrecker. Thanks, but no thanks, Joe Curlyhorns. Okay, next passage to Svartalfheim! Loki?|
|Loki:||A travel agent I am not, Stark.|
|Tony Stark:||Hey, if you'd rather Thor put you back in your box...
...nothing to say? There's a first.
Boss - Malekith
|Tony Stark:||Time for the thrilling climax. We've found Malekith in Svartalfheim.|
|Agent Coulson:||If we don't nail him now, Dark Elf armies are going to pour through portals into both Asgard and London.|
|Maria Hill:||He's not going to just hit and run, not with his armies ready to march. This time, he'll stand and fight.|
|Thor:||Your armies are broken, Malekith. Not Kurse, nor Amora, nor a multitude of Dark Elves will break the will of Asgard.|
|Then why are you here, Odinson? If you have already won, what use is this battle?||Malekith:|
|Thor:||Use? The use of it is that I will crush you with Mjolnir, burn you with lightning, and watch you die.|
|Still a rash boy. I have waited thousands of years for this moment. How many have wished me dead during those ages? Yet I am still here.||Malekith:|
|The will of Asgard? You may have all the will you can muster, Odinson. What you lack is strength.||Malekith:|
|The doom of the universe is darkness... a darkness over which I will rule.||Malekith:|
|Thor:||Malekith is defeated. The Dark Elves are fleeing for the portals that remain.|
|Nick Fury:||Cut them off and close those portals. The fewer of them get back to Svartalfheim, the longer it's going to be until we have a Dark Elf problem again.|
|Heimdall:||We must return to Asgard. There is much to be done, and who knows what threats remain?|
|Sif:||Muspelheim and Niflheim may yet be restless.|
|Tony Stark:||Tonyheim is restless from wondering how many -heims there are. Do you guys all have your own -heim?|
|Thor:||If there was a Tonyheim, Asgard would raze it, if only to silence your clowning.|
|Tony Stark:||Hey, we saved the world! Again!|
|Agent Coulson:||Never gets old, does it?|
|Heimdall:||We must rebuild the Bifrost. Only then will Asgard be able to reclaim its role as protector of the Nine Realms.|
|Tony Stark:||Well, yeah. Okay. But man, can we take a minute and feel good about saving the world?|
|Thor:||You may. I see not how one minute would suffice for a celebration.|
|Tony Stark:||Thor, you have a lot to learn about humor.|
