Prologue - Welcome to S.H.I.E.L.D.
Training - Use of ISO-8
|Tony Stark:||Maria, how's Research coming along with the ore?|
|Maria Hill:||Meteorite, yes they say it may match a material known as Isotope-8.|
|Tony Stark:||Iso-8? Heard of it, never seen it. Didn't think it was capable of generating these readings|
|Mr. Fantastic:||It's not. This is purer. I believe the Pulse may have brought this material with it.|
|Tony Stark:||Reed? Was I not fantastic enough, Fury?|
|Nick Fury:||You're good with hardware. When it comes to mysteries from space, Richards is the guy.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Data indicates transient benefits are absorbed by anyone exposed to it. We may be able to harness this.|
|Tony Stark:||That must be what everyone else is thinking.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||I believe I could socket this into a suit with metaconductive filaments like your S.H.I.E.L.D. uniform. Need some time.|
|Nick Fury:||Not much of that, Richards. Agent, up to being a guinea pig?
Socket that Isotope-8 to your suit and get Research back to producing new gear and supplies.
|Mr. Fantastic:||This Iso-8 seems to be enhancing the Agent's health.|
|Tony Stark:||Like a healing factor?|
|Tony Stark:||Got it. We need more of this stuff... bad guys need less of it.|
|Nick Fury:||Keep your eyes open for more Isotope-8. It might give us the edge we need.|
|Thor:||He has vanished.|
|Maria Hill:||Confirmed. Not certain how, but Loki's gated everyone out except for a few stragglers S.H.I.E.L.D.'s cleaning up.|
|Thor:||He knows of the cosmic stones we have been seeking.|
|Nick Fury:||I'm sure he does. Seems like everyone does.|
|Tony Stark:||It doesn't make sense. They seemed organized, sweeping the city for the Iso-8 we detected.|
|Captain America:||But A.I.M. and Hydra are like oil and water. They actively hate each other.|
|Nick Fury:||And Loki isn't exactly a team player, either. Something has brought them together. Something we have zero intel on.|
|Tony Stark:||And now, thanks to Iso-8 exposure, even two-bit hoods pose a threat to us.|
|Thor:||A common brigand managed to cut me with an ordinary blade.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||My theory is that along with the larger chunks of Iso-8 a charged cloud of Iso-8 dust has settled on the city.
It seems to have a measurable decay rate, but its effects will grow stronger before they peak and start to recede.
|Tony Stark:||We need to secure purer samples of Iso-8 to stay ahead of the curve.|
|Nick Fury:||This is just the beginning, Agent. You keep things under control while we work on what was behind these attacks.|
Mini-Boss - Madame Masque
|Mr. Fantastic:||Reed Richards here. I'm running the surveillance videos from the Empire State Building area and I'd say that looks like...|
|Tony Stark:||Madame Masque.
I'd say her appearance here does a nice job of connecting the dots from the Maggia to HYDRA to Doom, wouldn't you?
|Maria Hill:||I'd say we don't know.
If we've learned anything about the Pulse, we know that it shuffled around all the alliances we thought were stable.
|Mr. Fantastic:||I'm already here. I'll pay her a visit and see what she has to say.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||What did Doom offer you to be his cat's-paw, Guiletta?|
|The Maggia are no one's pet! Doom doesn't know everything he thinks he does.
And you are never going to tell him I said that. The U-Foes may have failed to get rid of the Fantastic Four, but Madame Masque will not!
|Mr. Fantastic:||I'm not ready to believe that the Pulse means criminal lunatics are going to run the world.|
|Going to? Reed, darling, we already do.||Madame Masque:|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Madame Masque is all wrapped up.|
|Tony Stark:||In your arms? How romantic, Reed.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Is it ever. Now let's get a team over here so I can let her go.|
Mini-Boss - Crimson Cowl
|Reed Richards, the world's smartest man.||Crimson Cowl:|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Flatterer. I bet you tell Tony the same thing.|
|It would be lying to you both. Viktor von Doom is more brilliant by far!||Crimson Cowl:|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Smart enough to get you to fight for him, at least.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||That was predictable. You get the advantage over the Cowl and she teleports away.|
|Nick Fury:||Every time.|
|Tony Stark:||Unless you disable her cowl.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Right, I didn't think of that even though you just told me.|
|Nick Fury:||Both of you shut up. Bickering between egotistical intellectuals is against S.H.I.E.L.D. regulations.|
|Maria Hill:||Agent, looks like the way to Doom is clear.|
|Tony Stark:||That's unfortunate phrasing.|
Boss - Dr. Doom
|Reed Richards. Quite a marvelous substance, this Iso-8, is it not?||Dr. Doom:|
|Mr. Fantastic:||It is. Which is why we can't let you have any.|
|Too late. I already have quite a lot. And soon I will have much more.
My first show trial of its powers will be on this very building! The Empire State Building will become Doomlabs!
|Mr. Fantastic:||Doomlabs. At least your branding is consistent.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Another feint, Nick. The minute Doom thought he might be seriously challenged, he disappeared.|
|Tony Stark:||He's already issuing communiques from inside the Latverian Embassy.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||So what was this Doomlabs thing supposed to be?|
|Nick Fury:||Stand guard there until a S.H.I.E.L.D. recovery team pulls Doom's tech out of the Empire State Building.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||You'd better hurry, Nick. People are getting anxious out here.
If Doom's not going to do something spectacular, they want to get back to their shopping.
|Tony Stark:||Reed, the Defense Department has an urgent problem with one of their top-secret labs.
But they're too proud to ask me.
|Mr. Fantastic:||Too proud, or they just don't like you?|
|Tony Stark:||Anyway, they're asking for your help. This infiltration might be related to the other cyber-attacks we've seen.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||All set.|
|Tony Stark:||Any evidence as to who did it?|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Not yet. I've got data to look at. I'll let you know if I find anything.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||This is more than a jailbreak. You're going to find a couple of unexpected inmates when you run these coordinates.|
|Tony Stark:||Are you thinking what I'm thinking?|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Nick and Maria are somewhere on Ryker's.|
|Tony Stark:||Reed, S.W.O.R.D. is requesting you look into the most recent attack on their systems.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Tony, I’m—|
|Tony Stark:||I know. We’re all doing something else.
You want to be the one who wouldn’t answer the call and then have S.W.O.R.D. fall out of the sky?
|Mr. Fantastic:||I don’t need a guilt trip.|
|Tony Stark:||I don’t want to give you one. I just want you to go.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||S.W.O.R.D.’s system security is restored.|
|Tony Stark:||Any clues about the intruder’s identity?|
|Mr. Fantastic:||None. It was powerful, and very familiar with their system. Or that’s what it looked like. But it didn’t leave specific traces.|
|Tony Stark:||That’s what the Hulk said too. Can we take countermeasures?|
|Mr. Fantastic:||I wrote and installed tracking subroutines. We’ll see what they get if this happens again.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Every new data point helps zero in on the identity of the threat. Bit by bit, if you'll forgive the joke.
I'll get back to you if this leads to any breakthroughs.
Mini-Boss - Dr. Doom
|Maria Hill:||Is that Doom or a Doombot?|
|Nick Fury:||One way to find out. Reed, you ready?|
|Mr. Fantastic:||I guess the lab can run itself for a minute.|
|Tony Stark:||So glad you could tear yourself away.|
|Reed Richards. Attend the power of Doom!||Dr. Doom:|
|Mr. Fantastic:||This one's got to be a Doombot. That's a bit melodramatic even for him.|
|Nick Fury:||Make sure. Take it apart.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Yep. Doombot.|
|Maria Hill:||We've got crews out cleaning up bits of the Servo Guards. One will recover this Doombot too.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Don't get the pieces mixed up on the way to the lab. Good Doombot specimens are hard to find.|
Mini-Boss - Dr. Doom
|Tony Stark:||Another Doombot?|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Still only one way to find out.|
|Doom speaks to you through this Doombot, Richards.||Dr. Doom:|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Does Doom?|
|Only to tell you he regrets not being present to kill you himself!||Dr. Doom:|
|Attend the power of Doom!||Dr. Doom:|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Enough already.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Doom? Hello? No answer. Too bad. I was hoping to send my own regrets.
I regret that this wasn't the real thing.
|Nick Fury:||Next time, Reed. We're closing in.|
Boss - Dr. Doom
|Reed Richards. How have you enjoyed this diversion?||Dr. Doom:|
|Mr. Fantastic:||To be honest, Viktor, I haven't paid much attention. Too busy working in the lab.|
|The seductions of Iso-8, yes. I know them well. Now you will see the work I have done.||Dr. Doom:|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Always a pleasure to share lab results with my... ahem... peers.|
|Fools! You only trade the Doom you know for a more certain doom you can not even comprehend. I would have saved this world from the others, and now we will all suffer.||Dr. Doom:|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Doom is back inside the embassy, Fury. Pursue?|
|Maria Hill:||Negative, Reed. Rules of engagement are clear on that. Even for Dr. Doom, Homeland Security can't throw laws of diplomacy out the window.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||He's a megalomaniacal maniac, but it sounds like he might know something we don't. We might not have another chance to get to him.|
|Tony Stark:||Easy, Reed. We did good here today. The Syndicate is shot to hell and all the villains are at each other's throats over Iso-8.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||And good old-fashioned power. Let's not forget that.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Victor. How's that Syndicate shaping up?|
|The Syndicate served its purpose admirably, Richards. Do not think you have seen through Doom's plans.||Dr. Doom:|
|You seem to think your hindsight is insight, old adversary. Where ego is concerned, you and I are a closer match than you admit.||Dr. Doom:|
|Mr. Fantastic:||This fight will never end, Victor. There will always be people willing to fight and die to stay free from you.|
|As long as they die, they are welcome to fight.||Dr. Doom:|
|Mr. Fantastic:||The battle of wits between us was always pretty even. Doom's problem is he thinks resentment is a weapon, when in fact it's a weakness.|
|Tony Stark:||We are so lucky to benefit from these insights, Reed.
Doom's problem is actually that he thinks you stole his girlfriend. Pretty simple.
|Mr. Fantastic:||No, simplistic. Like all of your glib comments. Life doesn't reduce itself to clever bons mots, Anthony.|
|Tony Stark:||More wisdom!|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Using data from Abigail Brand and S.W.O.R.D., together with terrestrial observations, cross referenced with known traj-|
|Tony Stark:||Spit it out.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||It has been confirmed that object is not a naturally occurring meteoroid crossing paths with Earth. What it is, I don't yet know.|
|Tony Stark:||Very helpful, thanks.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||You're welcome to try to do better if you can.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Appreciate the help, Colossus. We'll get everything back online as soon as possible.|
|Colossus:||I will watch as long as I am needed.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||This part of the perimeter alarm is reset. Security measures are back in place. Thanks again, Piotr.|
|Colossus:||Now I will go and make sure the rest of our enemies do not reach this far again.|
Boss - Savin
|Thundra:||I have located Savin.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||So have we. He's disabled security protocols in the whole building and locked himself inside. We can't get in.|
|Thundra:||I will, Richards. If you don't mind me kicking down the door, that is.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Feel free. The neighborhood association's been after me to renovate anyway.
On a more serious note: I've been doing some nanotech work that we do not want Savin to get.
|Tony Stark:||Okay. You heard the man. Go get him, Thundra.|
|Agent Coulson:||Mr. Richards, I hope your nanotech materials are safe?|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Savin didn't get to them before Thundra got to him. So that's good. Much appreciated, Thundra.|
|Thundra:||You are welcome.|
|Tony Stark:||Time for a little intelligence sharing, Reed. Whatcha got?|
|Mr. Fantastic:||It's not a viable design yet, but I'm always working on ways to extend the lives of different Iso-8 variants. I believe there are nanotechnological ways to do that.|
|Agent Coulson:||If you'll remember, Mr. Stark, Mr. Richards did much of the early work to understand the nature of Iso-8.|
|Tony Stark:||Um, yeah. That's because some of us were out fighting bad guys.|
|Nick Fury:||Much as I love an egghead catfight, we've got more immediate problems. Prep for trans-Atlantic flight. We're headed for Wakanda.|
|Tony Stark:||There are so many damn disturbances in space-time that I can't keep track of them all. Reed, can you?|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Just barely. Incursion points are appearing at an alarmingly rapid rate, each followed by a strange anomalous signature. It stands out like an actual time traveler.|
|Tony Stark:||You know this?|
|Beast:||He leaves a tachyon signature we have learned to recognize. I'll show you later if you wish; the process is incredibly fascinating since we use a rare molecular reac-|
|Maria Hill:||Thank you, Dr. McCoy. We're also seeing Sentinels coming up out of San Francisco Bay, and they appear to be under the control of the Crimson Dynamo.|
|Tony Stark:||That's what I was about to say.|
|Maria Hill:||Someone has given him a powerful tech upgrade. Not to mention more responsibility, if he's controlling Sentinels. How has he acquired this amount of power?|
|Nick Fury:||We'll find out when we track him down. Let's not ask him nicely; Havok is taking point on this operation.|
|Invisible Woman:||Reed, what were they after?|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Same thing they're always after. They want to be us, even if they go on and on about how they're better than us.
They want Iso-8, they want new tech, they want the means and creativity to live the life that's just beyond their grasp...
|Human Torch:||All because they know they don't measure up.|
|Tony Stark:||Uh oh. Looks like some kind of device...|
|Mr. Fantastic:||It looks like a Triethylaluminium reservoir, with a surprisingly sophisticated dispersal mechanism.|
|Tony Stark:||Right, I was going to say an air activated incendiary. Don't worry - I can def...|
|Mr. Fantastic:||I've already deactivated the timing circuit. I'll transport it to safety, stay back.|
|Tony Stark:||Glad that was taken care of, Agent. You can...|
|Mr. Fantastic:||This area is clear, Agent. Good luck out there.|
|Maria Hill:||Reed Richards has an idea that we can understand Iso-8 better if we get it outside Earth's atmosphere.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||After observing how it starts to decay in various terrestrial environments, I think studying it in a vacuum will yield worthwhile data.|
|Nick Fury:||How fast can you get to space and back?|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Pretty fast. But you can't rush an experiment.|
|Tony Stark:||Rush this one. We need the data--and as much as my ego hates to admit this, we need you around too.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||I was right.|
|Tony Stark:||Look at how self-satisfied he is.|
|Maria Hill:||Can it, Stark.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||The Iso-8 reveals more of its true structure when studied in space. We can use this data.|
Mini-Boss - Avalanche
|Mr. Fantastic:||You're in a tough spot, Avalanche. I can absorb shock waves.|
|This building can't. Stand off or you'll find out just how much you can resist being crushed.||Avalanche:|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Oh, I already know. But you're in for a surprise.|
|We'll find out, smart guy.||Avalanche:|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Avalanche pinned himself under all this rubble, but he won't be stuck for long.
I can bring him in but my skills might be better put to use elsewhere.
|Tony Stark:||Okay, prima donna. We'll get a team out to handle Avalanche. You go after the Blob and see if you can use those skills to find the Living Pharaoh.|
Mini-Boss - Blob
|Tony Stark:||There's the Blob. It's taken me forever, but I think I have the Living Pharaoh's location nailed down. Get the Blob...
I was about to say out of the way, but that's not really possible, is it?
|Nick Fury:||Quickly, people. The Living Pharaoh hasn't made his transformation yet.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||It's close, though. I've detected a new energy signature in the frequency the Pharaoh was using to tap Havok's energy.|
|Tony Stark:||I'm seeing it too. We're just in time. Maybe.|
|If I chewed you up, I bet you'd be like gum.||Blob:|
|Mr. Fantastic:||You're never going to find out, Blob. But thanks for the mental image.|
Epic Boss - Green Goblin
|Mr. Fantastic:||And here we thought the Brotherhood was bankrolling this project.|
|Oh, there's quite a lot you don't know about what happens inside the Hellfire Club, Richards.||Green Goblin:|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Society gossip never interested me much. Neither did grand villainous plots, to be honest.|
|You'll be quite interested in the final outcome of this one. If, that is, you live to see it.||Green Goblin:|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Take the hint, Osborn. Nobody wants you around.|
|People will know what they want when I tell them what they want!||Green Goblin:|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Osborn is gone, Fury. Are you tracking him?|
|Tony Stark:||He's baffling surveillance. Do you still have a visual?|
|Nick Fury:||Sunuvah--all right. We've held things up here as long as we can.
Agent, back to the Helicarrier once you've cleared the Sentinels.
|Mr. Fantastic:||Some other time, Osborn...|
|Mr. Fantastic:||A small spacecraft just landed near the Hudson River. I'm going to check it out.|
|Maria Hill:||How did it get through our surveillance?|
|Mr. Fantastic:||When I find the pilot, I'll ask him.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Whoever the pilot was, he's not around any more... but the ship looks to be from Attilan.|
|Maria Hill:||Black Bolt's city... that was the Black Order's last stop before they came to Earth. Are there more of them?|
|Agent Coulson:||We'd better keep an eye out. We don't need any surprises.|
|Thundra:||These are not like the others... what has changed?|
|Mr. Fantastic:||It's a different serum... at least we think it is. We'll need more samples before we can say with any certainty.|
|Maria Hill:||Reed, is it possible we can use the Baxter Building as a safe house for Thane if the Avengers Mansion location is compromised?|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Possible, yes. But the street outside of the Baxter Building is already filling with Circle of 8.
Let me see if there's a way to get Thane in without drawing their attention.
|Mr. Fantastic:||I don't think it's a good idea. Ronan is watching, the Black Order is also keeping an eye on us, and there's no way to move a human being in without being observed.|
|Maria Hill:||Then we stick with the original plan. Keep Thane in Avengers Mansion as long as we can.|
|Tony Stark:||Any signs of possession by a cosmic force? Parasitic alien life? Dizziness or shortness of breath?|
|Beast:||No ill effects whatsoever. I would venture to call this experiment an unmitigated success!|
|Mr. Fantastic:||I agree - the potential here is limitless. Agent - we will start synthesizing more Empowered Iso-8 immediately, but keep an eye open - there is no reason it can't occur naturally.|
|Tony Stark:||Hopefully the bad guys will get the ones with the side effects.|
|Beast:||I usually wouldn't be so presumptuous, but I believe we can make further use of the Isotope-8.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||We know that it takes on the properties of its surroundings. Dr. McCoy has been refining this reaction.|
|Beast:||I'm no stranger to change and the benefits it can unlock. By exposing Isotope-8 to the forces you have assembled here, Agent, we can further enhance the capabilities of your already impressive team.|
|Tony Stark:||In other words, space rocks that give us super powers. I'm sure there are no side effects to worry about.|
|Mr. Fantastic:||We are calling them Empowered Iso-8. Our simulations show that they will increase the combat capability of a hero considerably.|
|Beast:||Now, we just need a volunteer to test one on...|
|Hank Pym:||Empowered Iso-8 is broadly useful, no doubt about that. But perhaps we should be thinking... smaller.|
|Tony Stark:||Well, smaller is your specialty.|
|Hank Pym:||No, I mean more refined than Empowered Iso-8, more focused! A targeted Iso-8 infusion, keyed to an individual metahuman's unique powerset, could amplify their strengths far more effectively.|
|Tony Stark:||Um, okay, but how would you--|
|Mr. Fantastic:||By creating a superfluid condensate, yes! But the energy requirements--|
|Hank Pym:||I have the necessary equipment at my lab. Let's go!|
|Tony Stark:||Uh, yeah, you go do that physics and chemistry stuff, guys. I'll just be over here, engineering... things. Just let me know when you're done.|
|Hank Pym:||Success! We can now enhance an individual's abilities directly with Iso-8. However, Tony, we need you for the last step.|
|Tony Stark:||Really? I mean, of course, obviously the technology required to--|
|Mr. Fantastic:||We need a name for it.|
|Tony Stark:||...what? Oh, um... Augmented?|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Yes! Augmented Iso-8!|
|Mr. Fantastic:||Perfect. Thank you, Tony.|
|Tony Stark:||I hate you guys.|
