Abilities: Widely believed to be the world’s greatest archer.
Unique Weapons: A bow and trick arrows with a variety of effects, including explosions, wires, stun, punchout, etc.
Known History: Raised in a circus by marksmen, young Clint decided to become a “super hero” after observing others, like Iron Man, in action. Unfortunately, in his first few outings he was mistaken for a criminal, which proved a self-fulfilling prophecy after he fell in love with an enemy spy, the Black Widow. Hawkeye assisted her in her crimes until they were thwarted by Iron Man. Black Widow’s handlers ordered her to kill him, and after she refused they defected to SHIELD. Both have proven capable operatives, having served lengthy stints with the Avengers; Hawkeye even led their West Coast operations for some time.
Hawkeye and Black Widow have subsequently ended their romantic relationship as Hawkeye has fallen for another S.H.I.E.L.D. special operative, Mockingbird.
Observations: “When you first see the guy, you’re like, “Seriously? You’re going to take on a room full of Maggia goons with a bow and freaking arrows?” But he can pull that string back faster than most people can think. He can put an arrow in a pistol barrel from a hundred paces and electrify an entire floor with one of his high-voltage shafts. Now I’ve started to feel sorry for the other guys.”

“Of course Clint and I have butted heads during our Avengers’ tenure. A lot of people ... Well. My reputation oftentimes precedes itself. They’re intimidated by the uniform, they don’t want to speak up. Not Hawkeye. His way is always right and he’ll argue with you until you’re both blue in the face to prove it. I can’t tell you how important that is to a team dynamic, that dissonant voice. It makes me respect him all the more.
