CRIMSON COWL RETURNS?
Legendary “Master of Evil” Rumored to be Plotting Another Comeback
By Dick Jones … THE PHANTOM REPORTER!
Special to the Bugle
It takes a lot to spook a reporter in this fair city, what with various supervillains and dastardly ne’er-do-wells regularly doing battle in the subways, the streets, and the skies above. But if our sources are to be believed, an old enemy of justice is back to marshal the forces of malevolence and turpitude against the decent and law-abiding citizens who read this newspaper. This time, it’s none other than the Crimson Cowl.
Astute readers of this paper may remember the villainous robot Ultron used the name “Crimson Cowl” while assembling the original lineup of the Masters of Evil - one of the earliest examples of the “supervillain supergroup.” Eventually, Ultron was unmasked, and the Masters of Evil put on ice - for a while, at least. The name “Crimson Cowl” has since faded to a distant memory.
But the Bugle’s source tells us that someone has picked up the mantle once again - and this time, the cowl cloaks a woman! “I can’t say much, or she’ll know who I am,” our source told us, voice quivering in fear. “But let’s just say that her real name would be very familiar. In fact, you might think all the spooky new powers the Cowl has now are magic - but in reality it’s all technological trickery she picked up from the family business.” Intriguing - but frustratingly vague, since that could describe half of the supervillains in the phone book. Not that they’re listed in the phone book.
Rest assured that if the Crimson Cowl or her minions make a move, the Phantom Reporter will be there to report it first!
