PERSONNEL BRIEF, Directorate of Operations: Baron Mordo
Designation: Independent Operator
Criminal Record: Suspected by Interpol to be involved in the international smuggling of mystic artifacts but never formally charged.
Powers: Mordo has evidenced tremendous facility with “magic,” the exact definition of which is currently under consideration by the directorate’s Terms and Classifications Committee.
Known History: A Transylvanian nobleman who went to study sorcery under the legendary Tibetan mystic “The Ancient One,” Mordo was expelled from the Himalayas when the old man’s other student, an American surgeon named Stephen Strange, discovered he was secretly poisoning his teacher. Since then Baron Mordo has been bent on Strange’s destruction and seizing the mantle of Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme from him.
Observations: “This is a real ‘the enemy-of-my-friend-is-my-enemy’ type deal. Though he is clearly not a good guy and associates with some real heavy players -- he even formed a short-lived group with the likes of Tiger Shark and Red Hulk with the unfortunate name of ‘The Offenders’ -- Mordo hasn’t really done anything to get himself on S.H.I.E.L.D.’s radar. His conflicts have remained largely with Dr. Strange in the realm of so-called ‘magic,’ about which the directorate’s official policy is one of institutional skepticism.
“All I’m saying is, he’s no worse than some of the other characters we deal with on a day-to-day basis. If, God forbid, Mordo one day unseats Dr. Strange and becomes Sorcerer Supreme, I don’t see why S.H.I.E.L.D. shouldn’t deal with him instead.
“Assuming we’re allowed to believe in a ‘Sorcerer Supreme’ in the first place…” -- Maria Hill
