"Magneto and Mystique really have it out for each other, and he's managed to intercept Blob and Mystique. Reports on the field coming in say Magneto's having problems taking them down. We have Emma Frost moving in to back him up."

Heroes Required: Emma Frost
Allies: Magneto

Very likely the only Heroic Battle in chapter 4 that requires strategic planning rather than sheer dumb luck. Firstly, both heroes in this battle are Tacticians while Mystique is an infiltrator. As such, she will always counter non-Psychic attacks. Secondly, she gets a lot of free turns by using Iso-8 Enhancement on her first turn (note: this will remove Mental Anguish without harming her); however, the secret to winning is actually using her many free attacks against her. Blob will protect her with a passive version of
Effect BG 1 GreenEffect Icon 012
Immovable Object. Notice that, due to Mystique's
Effect BG 2 BlueEffect Icon 012
Zeal of the Brotherhood ability, Blob regains all of his Health at every turn and cannot be K.O.'ed; however, Mystique's own version of the passive means defeating her will also defeat Blob. The first time Blob is attacked by either character, a scene will appear where Magneto politely asks Blob to get out of the way, and Emma says she'll "handle him," after which, Blob will gain a passive that makes him susceptible to
Effect BG 1 RedEffect Icon 083
Mental Anguish. Hit Blob with Psychic Tap if you haven't already. He will lose Immovable Object and gain the
Effect BG 1 RedEffect Icon 187
Brainwashed debuff which will force him to attack Mystique whenever she attacks (which is often). If the turn order put Magneto's move before Emma's, use Magnetic Field, as he is of little use while Blob can still protect. From this point, focus your attacks on Mystique. As her attacks cause
Effect BG 1 RedEffect Icon 018
Weak Point, hit her with Electromagnetic Blast as soon as you can, as Magnetized prevents critical hits. Magnetized also ensures that even Blob's "counter attacks" will hit. Use Unlock Potential sparingly; as a Quick Action, it will not consume a turn, like Magnetic Field (without the Quick E-ISO). However it may be needed to remove debuffs which are having a negative impact on your ability to dish out damage, or restore Stamina without wasting turns resting. Unless you have the Quick E-ISO equipped on Magneto, or it is Magneto's first turn and Emma hasn't yet used Psychic Tap on Blob, Magnetic Field is a low priority and a wasted turn.

Blob will continue to attack Mystique every time she attacks for several rounds. He will also continue to attack you during his turn as normal. Ignore him; focus on Mystique. Once Mystique is defeated, Blob will be also. Good luck!

Mission 2: Heated Negotiations

Heroic Battle
Abomination Icon Abomination Bruisericon
Passive:

Like almost every other HB, if you have an alternate uniform it's going to be easier. Just don't pick Scrapper World War Hulk and it's going to be fine.

The fight could be difficult due to the fact that Hulk is affected by a nasty passive debuff called
Effect BG 3 RedEffect Icon 052
Keep Calm, which will allow him to gain stacks of
Effect BG 1 GreenEffect Icon 022
Hulk Up only by using Rage Punch. Also, Abomination's attack Radiate will cause the
Effect BG 1 GreenEffect Icon 012
Gamma Aura buff on him, reducing the damage of Hulk's Unarmed attacks. This should then be removed as soon as possible, by using Thunder Clap (notice that removing the Gamma Aura will cause a
Effect BG 1 RedEffect Icon 012
Pressure Points effect on Abomination). After the first round Abomination will taunt you, and you'll have the chance to respond with "Banner" or "Hulk Smash!" If you choose "Banner", Abomination will go into
Effect BG 1 GreenEffect Icon 071
Suspended Animation, gaining health regeneration and a shield effect, but being unable to take actions. If you choose "Hulk Smash!" instead, Hulk will lose the Keep Calm debuff and gain the
Effect BG 3 BlueEffect Icon 001
Always Angry passive buff, plus 5 stacks of Hulk Up; Abomination will then get damage boosts and free turns. Hulk should obviously be at least at level 6 in order to have a chance to win: if he's not at high level (and if you're using his default alt) you should also choose the "Banner" option. Two Rage Punches should easily demolish Abomination's shield effect: he'll then start attacking Hulk with Punch (dealing
Effect BG 1 RedEffect Icon 039
 Weakened and
Effect BG 1 RedEffect Icon 008
 Exposed) and Smash (dealing
Effect BG 1 RedEffect Icon 009
 Dizzy and
Effect BG 1 RedEffect Icon 040
Slowed), using Radiate again after a few rounds. The best thing to do is (as written above) removing Radiate with Thunder Clap and attacking with Rage Punch only: better keep as many stacks of Hulk Up as possible (three of them will negate the Weakened/Dizzy stat reduction), in order to deal as many damage as you can. The Close Empowered Isotope-8 could be really useful in this battle. If you'd like to use an alternate outfit, Grey Hulk is the best one due to his
Effect BG 3 BlueEffect Icon 083
Fighting Dirty passive, which could allow him to deal useful debuffs to Abomination (like
Effect BG 1 RedEffect Icon 127
 Cower,
Effect BG 1 RedEffect Icon 046
 Fumbling or
Effect BG 1 RedEffect Icon 007
Blinded) plus a free counterattack. World War Hulk's alt (except for the Scrapper version) could be useful, too: by choosing the "Hulk Smash!" option and accumulating up to three stacks of
Effect BG 1 GreenEffect Icon 022
War Frenzy, Hulk will sure deal huge amounts of damage with his attacks, especially Hulk Smash.

Mission 3: Tourist Trap

"Should have known. Whenever Jotun's suddenly appear, the Enchantress can't be too far. Amora has been sighted teleporting Jotuns around San Francisco. Let's corner her and send in Lady Sif to bring her in."

With this battle, it's starting to show just how good Sif's Modern Alternate truly is (or, if you don't have it, the Close Empowered Isotope-8). In order to dispatch the Enchantress quickly, Sif in her Modern outfit will crit every time she attacks. One of the major annoyances with this battle is Enchantress will be immune to bleed, removing Sif's best way to quickly dispatch her. Another annoyance is Enchantress constantly taunting Sif giving her a choice between ignoring her and getting into a rage. Choosing to rage gives Sif the
Effect BG 3 RedEffect Icon 001
Raging Barbarian debuff which greatly increases her damage at the cost of her accuracy. You cannot afford to miss any attacks, so make sure to keep Raging Barbarian down to one by choosing to Ignore after attacking with Raging Barbarian on the previous turn. Finally, Enchantress will also be casting Magic Missile which is going to have the Chaos Shot effect and cause random DoT debuffs. The quickest way to get rid of her is to use Leaping Slash as it will inflict Tenderized and cause Amora to take more damage from Sif's other attacks.

Alternatively, it is possible to win without the Modern alt, purchasing an Aggressive Empowered Iso-8 (5 gold) can help, but can be done without it. Arrange Sif's Iso-8 for high Attack, Accuracy and Evasion (especially Attack and Evasion). Use Sif's L6 for the free critical, then attack with her L2. She will follow-up with her L1, and gain two stacks of Attacker. Amora will perform as described above. Choosing to ignore her every time as the increased attack from the Aggressive Empowered Iso-8 should be adequate. Raging Barbarian will only be useful if Sif has higher accuracy to counter the effects. Coupled with Exploit Tenderized, Amora should go down in 3-4 hits of Sif's L2, fewer if Amora misses due to Sif's higher evasion. The Recovering Empowered Iso-8 is useful if your Sif is L13 or above.

"Avalanche, Dragoness and Toad are calling out the X-Men for a showdown. Could be a diversion while the other Brotherhood members take down the Hellfire Club? Still, let's not disappoint them. We're clearing out the area and sending in Colossus, Cyclops and Storm to handle the situation."

This battle is quite difficult, but if you have access to alts it is quite easy to win. You'll have to use Storm, Colossus and Cyclops and fight against Dragoness (Blaster), Avalanche (Scrapper) and Toad (Infiltrator); everyone has some special Brotherhood passives that can be annoying, mainly Toad's one (protection and counter effect), and Avalanche's one (gives extra turns in the same way Uncanny Cyclops does, but more often). The easiest way to deal with them is by not having the weak classes, so if you have the chance try using Scrapper Colossus and Blaster Cyclops.

First of all, Toad is your first target. To avoid his counter attacks, hit him with Cyclops's Exploit Weakness and then don't stop hitting him with the others, while using Storm for defensive duty (which means using
Effect BG 3 GreenEffect Icon 028
Protective Shroud as soon as you can). As soon as you'll defeat him, Avalanche and Dragoness will get a buff, which gives them follow-up attacks pretty like Ares'
Effect BG 3 BlueEffect Icon 001
War Never Changes. Just choose one of them and take him/her out: if you have Bruiser Colossus, Dragoness should be killed first, since she could be a serious trouble for him. Bear in mind that Dragoness's
Effect BG 3 BlueEffect Icon 021
Mechanical Wings can be deactivated with Storm's L1.

When there will be only one Brotherhood member alive, use everything you can to kill him; just remember that if it's Dragoness, she'll get two extra turns.
A methodical and quite effective way to win this Heroic Battle is using Colossus' and Cyclops' P5 alts, together with Storm's Tactical alt equipped with Quick E-ISO. First, you'll benefit from P5 passives. Secondly, you'll have a class advantage against Dragoness while using Storm's electric attacks to negate her Avoidance effect. Finally, you're able to turn Protective Shroud into a QA.

This battle is mostly about luck. Captain Britain will face two test subjects (Blaster and Scrapper) and Crimson Cowl (Infiltrator). Strange passives: Cap used to have the
Effect BG 3 BlueEffect Icon 188
 White Knight passive, which gives
Effect BG 1 BlueEffect Icon 011
True Strike to all his attacks when he has
Effect BG 3 GreenEffect Icon 022
Roar of Valor... but now this has been changed with
Effect BG 3 BlueEffect Icon 188
Coat of Arms, which has the same effect PLUS gives Save the Queen a 50% chance to remove
Effect BG 1 RedEffect Icon 002
Bleeding, if Roar of Valor is active. Also, he has the
Effect BG 3 RedEffect Icon 148
Gentleman debuff: with this, he loses Roar of Valor whenever he attacks Crimson Cowl. What's worse, the boss has an avoidance effect called
Effect BG 3 BlueEffect Icon 025
Instant Transmission, and that's why True strike is needed.
Having to deal with a Scrapper is awesome: you'll get
Effect BG 2 GreenEffect Icon 077
Enraged and so you'll take less damage from all the attacks, except the Blaster's ones. It means that the Blaster should be your first target. Hit him with L1 so that he'll be weakened, but be careful, since with one attack he can drop your health to 30-40% making the battle a lot harder, especially if you're bleeding (CC). After defeating the Blaster, focus your attacks on CC and lastly on the Scrapper.

Regardless a sizable amount of luck is needed as getting Merlin's Gift to proc for an extra turn, healing and an additional Roar of Valor is vital for completing this battle, especially when fighting Crimson Cowl as without Roar of Valor beating her is very hard, due to her avoidance effect.

Heroes Required: Mockingbird
Appears in: Chapter 4 - Globetrotting: Premium Mission: On the Prowl
Potential Gear Reward: Random Deploy Gear, Empowered Iso-8 018Predictive Empowered Isotope-8
Total Hero Cost: 200 Command point icon

This battle has been altered since around the release of Spec Ops 17. Zemo used to be a generalist, but now that he is a tactician, he'll be giving you the opportunity to counter everything. Since he might cause bleeding on you, you might want to equip her with the Recovering E-Iso to be on the safe side. Otherwise, the counters will most likely take care of everything for you. Zemo can now apply "Hail Hydra" to himself or the Brusier so getting hits on Zemo can be potentially harder, although if Mockingbird becomes an infiltrator she can counter his attacks, which can become mandatory for victory. Also Zemo has been given two new moves as well. He can now use The Baron's Mark, which allows Zemo to counter with a nasty counterattack and also applies Generalized to Mockingbird; thus eliminating her one advantage in this battle if it hits. He also has Charged Strike, which applies bleeding, ravaged and causes hemorrhage. This may sound bad but Baron Zemo will announce these attacks with a move called Inner Focus; which Zemo will give up a turn to charge the move. If you attack Zemo during this time you will interrupt the attack, thus saving you the match. If you kill the first Bruiser before Zemo, he'll call in reinforcements, another Bruiser and an Infiltrator. One thing that can go wrong here is if you become a Scrapper due to the enemy Infiltrator and get attacked by the bruiser, enraging him. Another thing that can go wrong if Mockingbird becomes a blaster which can potentially give Baron Zemo an extra turn. The battle has been made easier since it's release do to the ability to counterattack but the changes to Zemo are equally as dangerous. Regardless it is still a tough battle, but one that is now more skill based instead of luck based.

A simple strategy can alternately be used: wait it out (by having Mockingbird use Recharge) until the Rampart loses his Protect passive, then wail it all out on Zemo. Attacking Zemo would turn Mockingbird into an Infiltrator, and make her attacks Stealthy, and repeated use of her Twin Strike through counter-attacks would make both Zemo and the Rampart go down easily from Mocking Blow.
