- Götterdämmerung, German for Twilight of the Gods, is the name of the last cycle in Richard Wagner's opera, "Der Ring des Nibelungen (The Ring of the Nibelung)". It is a translation of the Old Norse term, Ragnarök, the prophesied end and renewal of the world .
